Do’s and Dont’s of Robot Reels
The Do’s…
To take tension off-take two turns of cable over the top of the spool and pull them through the roller guide
To put tension back on—pull enough cable out to add a turn of cable back on the reel.
Keep the cord grip straight with the pendant.
Keep the cable and pendant straight when you are walking with them.
The ball stop has a strong adhesive tape that needs to be set once you determine the location of the ball stop. ALWAYS PULL THE CABLE BY THE BALL STOP.
Add another ball stop to pull with that is closer to the cord grip/pendant for remote cable reel applications.
There are YELLOW and RED warning pieces of tape on the end of the pendant cable which tell you there is 3ft and 1ft of cable left on the spool before the connector.
If you are replacing a pendant cable, make sure you wire tie one turn of cable to itself to prevent any operator from pulling the cable out of the connector.
Walk the pendant and cable all the way back to the reel and make sure the cable is completely retracted before putting the pendant on the controller hook.
The Dont’s…
Don’t use the reel without setting the tension of the spring and cable.
Don’t use the reel without setting the tension of the spring and cable.
Don’t bend the cable anywhere on the cord grip.
Don’t twist the cable when walking with it.
Don’t pull the cable by the teach pendant.
For long cable applications where the ball stop is far removed from the pendant, buy and add another ball stop a foot or two away from the end of the cord grip.
Don’t pull the cable all the way out from the reel because it can damage the center connector.
Don’t pull the cable all the way out from the reel because it can damage the center connector.
Don’t let the cable wind itself back on the reel with the pendant already put on the controller hook.
